System Update 0.0.1
Greetings Programs,
Let's start of by saying it's a pleasure to see anyone reading this update after so many months of unplanned down time. The site was a small community project when it's first official launch kicked off. As such, when things got a little out of touch for some of the administration staff. The site saw a rapid decline before there was ever a chance to correct the situation. We apologize for this as there was a lot going on behind the scenes that influenced the decision to let the site flounder on it's own for quite a few months. That said, those who are able to put in the time and effort to contribute to it once more and make sure it runs well are back and willing to work with returning and new members to make the site something special as we hoped it would become.
A unique experience built on community involved and suggestive input.
Going forward we ask patience of those who are coming to the site with new expectations. We are running the old format on a new-ish system of characterization. Naturally it takes time to notice and work out any kinks in a new system on it's first run. So we hope you will help us out by bringing attention to anything that doesn't work or agree with you in the first draft of this new system. We want the best experience for you all while here on site and that means making sure whatever mechanics are essential for the site's forward progression are stable and fair for everyone to enjoy.
So without further delay, we'd like to welcome you back to Evolution : ReDefined and introduce to you the new Power Level Tiers system recently designed with the site in mind.
■ - ■ - ■ - ■ - ■
Naturally, when we first launched the site we announced to all members that we were experimenting with a very open ended character progression. That any defining changes or advancements your character would make would be made along the way through threads via your writing skills. It dawned on us of course that after awhile this concept was a little too open ended. Making things like Memory Usage with Commands and just interacting with other characters in general either a pointless or meaningless experience. So it made sense when deciding to reopen the site to the public that a power level cap would have to be established regardless of out initial preferences.
By making these level caps we assured some kind of purpose to already existing mechanics like the Memory Counts and Command Board Marketplace. In this same instance, we had created a safe guard in response to people who might abuse the open nature of the site and it's members. Although this doesn't stop them from completely finding ways to toy with the site and it's established mechanics. It lessens the chance for them to succeed in doing so while also setting standards for both Members and Staff to judge their actions accordingly.
Basically we created these Power Caps not to limit people necessarily but to establish an relatively easy way to understand where a character and their influence is at any given point in their adventure. While also being able to set some ground rules for anyone who might not completely know where to start when joining the site for the first time. These Power Caps should be used as a reference guild and not necessarily as the end all be all except when in relation to level up benefits.
As lined out by the table below, each Tier has a range of experience. Where you fall on the table is decided by how much Memory is available in total on your Identity Disc. The higher the Memory the higher the Tier you belong to. The benefits listed under each Tier is a one time reward you gain upon leveling up into that specific Tier. The different aspects outlined under each tier are brief descriptions of what your character is capable of at that Tier. Again, they are meant to be used as guidelines for the writer to use in their own way. Not as the absolute: "this is how it's suppose to be".
Tier 1 : 0 - 500 Memory
Character's start with 10 Memory installed on their Identity Disc to use for installing commands. They have access to five lower level commands to start them off and three open inventory slots for items, each item is allowed two small abilities they can preform.
Strength - Your not the strongest. In fact one would question weather you can lift anything without serious difficulty. Your physical attacks are nothing to smile at and if anything are considered next to ineffective.
Stamina - Your endurance against the digital world and it's exploits is fragile at best. You tire easily from activity and when it comes to taking hits out on the field your easily pushed into submission.
Agility - Being at a running speed for you is a slow jog in comparison to others. You find that your flexibility is hardly considered average by a long stretch and evading incoming anything is a trial for you achieve successfully. You'll sooner fumble over your own actions instead of actually hitting your intended target.
Aptitude - As far as knowledge retention and being aware of your surroundings at any given time, your a little on the lack luster side. You don't catch on to things easily, if at all, and your attention to detail when it comes to remembering things you've learned is constantly questioned by yourself and others.
Willpower - Your mental fortitude and sense of composure under pressure is mocked by everyone. Simple things stress you and make you vulnerable to outside influence. Even small noises tend to freak you out when caught off guard. Your sense of safety is constantly in question by your own thoughts.
Execution - Your ability to use commands and use them successfully in any situation is concerning. Even with them hardwired into your programming you somehow can manage to have it backfire on you more often than not. The effectiveness of your commands on other programs or even in general is easily in the low success rate. Commands being used against you are a simple task with how little you understand about them.
Tier 2 : 500 - 1000 Memory
Character's gain 50 Memory to add to their current Memory total installed on their Identity Disc at the time. They also gain access three blank command keys to use in creating three new commands. Commands can start to range into moderate level effects. Also access to a new empty inventory slot becomes available.
Strength - Signs of average strength are becoming visibly noticeable. You can pick up simple things up with relative ease. When it comes to dishing out power you can begin to cause mild discomfort to your target.
Stamina - Being able to handle what the world throws at you is starting to become an easier feat. Your not nearly as easily tired out from physical pursuits and you can take some of the punches headed for you. That said your still a bit of a push over and shouldn't get too carried away.
Agility - Your not quite tripping over your own feet anymore. There's glimpses of coordination as your now able to keep up with everyone else in terms of speed and maneuverability. Dodging incoming advances are possible for the most part and keeping people on their toes with your own swings is also a thing your capable of.
Aptitude - Being able to look at a situation and pick up on what your seeing is starting to become possible. You can remember bits and pieces of important information that you have learned over time and keeping up in the moment of something your involved with is not as frustrating as it used to be.
Willpower - As things are, you are starting to be able to cope and hold your own against outside pressures being forced upon you. Stress is becoming a familiar thing you can begin to process and handle in a reasonably healthy manner. Your sense of sanity is in check and you can stand up for yourself with some courage when it comes to intimidation tactics.
Execution - Using commands properly is a comfortable feat and can be accomplished with some skill applied. Understanding how they function and will react in any given circumstance is on it's way to being second nature. Because of this, their effectiveness when used in general or even against other programs is in the higher percentage of success. In the same way commands being used against you have less of an impact now that have a bit more information to work with.
Tier 3 : 1000 - 2000 Memory
Character's gain 100 Memory to add to their current Memory total installed on their Identity Disc at the time. They also gain access two blank command keys to use in creating two new commands. Also access to a new empty inventory slot becomes available.
Strength - No more a mere average, you are more than capable of lifting a person or two out of your way and can cause an impact when it comes to throwing punches of your own. Damage produced by your power is noticeable and recognizable. By definition your considered to be at peak physical condition. However, you know you could go beyond if you tried.
Stamina - Being the peak of your kind your more than able to take on the world with your energy alone. Nothing can stop you for too long, your a force all your that can keep moving along til there's nothing left to give. On the field your able to roll with the punches and take them too. Although far from invulnerable, people will start to think twice about going for a second round with you.
Agility - Reflexes of your caliber are considered well executed beyond comprehension and in some cases down right graceful in appearance. Being light on your toes has never felt so natural and being able to move about at the sheer speed you do is almost blinding. Out smarting your opponents on your feet is as simple a well timed step to the side. In return, they might find it quite difficult to do the same.
Aptitude - No longer the last to know in the room. Your ability to assess a situation and keep track of most things involved allows you to adapt to changes on the fly. Crunching information you have learned from other sources and remembering it for later is straight forward to the point of simplicity. Mentally you can throw people for a loop when you get real descriptive or really into talking about a particular topic.
Willpower - Though far from impervious to other's influences, you are able to distinguish a bad situation from a good one and separate yourself from the drama. You can withstand stress and embrace it as a necessary part of life. Growing and learning from it's presence as you experience it come and go. Negative influences are an easy battle when your in the right head space to do it. However, you are still prone to moments of weakness even if farther and fewer than before.
Execution - Commands and their usage is something you can almost perform in your sleep. Knowing their effects and how to use them to their maximum potential is hardly considered a challenge. When it comes to using them them for yourself or against other programs, it's more likely to succeed than ever fail. Commands used against you are easy to dismantle and even if they do manage to reach you the resulting impact is hardly that bad.
Tier 4 : 2000 - 3000 Memory
Character's gain 150 Memory to add to their current Memory total installed on their Identity Disc at the time. They also gain access two blank command keys to use in creating two new commands. Commands can start to range into high level effects. Also access to a new empty inventory slot becomes available.
Strength - Breaking past the point of expected limitations you are more than capable of lifting your fair share and them some. The power you output in physicality alone is enough to push vehicles onto their sides never mind other people. Your considered an impressive feat of ability and can easily cause damage to most things without too much effort.
Stamina - Can't stop, wont stop. A term that completely applies to you and the way you operate while in this world. It's an accurate motto for the pure energetic presence you radiate through any and all activities you take part in. Stopping is not an option and it's a rare occurrence to see you take a knee to anything. Harm that finds a way to you is brushed off as barely anything. To actually hurt you takes some serious effort.
Agility - Getting from point A to point B and even C in the quickest way possible is nothing for you. Your speed on foot is almost unrivaled by any and all who attempt to oppose you and before they can properly blink you have a tendency to be much farther ahead than they might have been expecting. Being able to dodge and weave circles around your opponents is kinda like a game by this point. Less so for them as they can barely avoid your approach.
Aptitude - Your as sharp as a newly forged sword when it comes to information and explanation. Able to respond essentially on command when someone asks about something. Keeping up with any situation is next to second nature so much that people swear you could adapt to any changes with your eyes closed. More often than not people look to you first for guidance.
Willpower - The normal stresses and worries of every day life barely effect you, if at all. Being able to tune out the bad in any situation is something you can do with little to no effort. Peer pressure is a myth to you and there a very few people that can force their presence onto you to make you do their bidding. If anything it's the other way around and not always intentionally either. You might intimidate other without even realizing.
Execution - Knowledge of commands and how to use them are as easy as your own name. In almost every way you are considered a master of their performance and can use them without even so much as an thought of solid concentration. A snap of your fingers could trigger their activation. People fear what you are capable of when you use them. Likewise, those who are brave enough or foolish enough to use them against you find terrifying disappoint in how little they affect you.
Tier 5 : 3000+ Memory
Character's gain 200 Memory to add to their current Memory total installed on their Identity Disc at the time. They also gain access two blank command keys to use in creating two new commands. Commands can start to range into extreme level effects. Also access to two new empty inventory slots becomes available.
Strength - Being able to out perform every other class of program aside from the Master Control Program themself, your considered an over-processing perfection of physical prowess. Your strength alone can shatter buildings and bring them tumbling down to rubble. From an outside perspective you could be considered a threat to the entire system, never mind yourself.
Stamina - You literally stop for nothing or no one. There's is nothing in the entire system that can bring you down when your on a roll and being tired out is a foreign concept to you in every stretch of the definition. In all consideration you are a one man army in your own right as far as being able to do anything, it would take about an army to slow you down or bring harm to you in any way.
Agility - Taking a step for you is like taking a voyage of miles for others. Keeping up with your sense of speed and movement is out of the question. Before people even know where to look your able to be in once place and then another and another. Your a blur when seen from the outside and being able to dance around people is merely a generous term of expression when it comes to advancing onto your opponents before they even have a chance to react properly.
Aptitude - Never mind being considered simply smart of intellectual. Your knowledge on seemingly everything and anything has hit remarkable proportions to the point of being considered supernatural in very definition. Other's are thoroughly convinced you are capable of second sight due to how you are able to adapt to anything and everything within a second's glance of a situation. You are mentally a very scary being to be around.
Willpower - Mortal means of stress and intimidation are laughable to you in your current state of mental stability. You are no push over to anyone trying and can handle any chaotic situation as it comes to you. Your considered too okay in most instances by others but aren't bothered by it in the slightest. You marvel in your ability to shrug off most if not all sources of negativity in your life. To the point you completely unnerve and intimidate others just by being in the same room as them.
Execution - Your ability to use commands to their fullest extents and sometimes even push their limits is beyond comprehension. The mere impact of what they can produce is on catastrophic levels of output. Praise that you know them front to back, and back again because if unleashed without control you could bring about a state of emergency for the The Grid as a whole. Nothing but other commands of similar strength can affect you at all. Pray for the poor souls that get caught in the crossfire of that face off.
